PhD Candidate Shromona Mandal (WGSS) led a discussion on the documentary Claiming Our Voice (2013). Claiming Our Voice is a feminist documentary that follows the members of Andolan, a Queens-based organization founded and led by South Asian immigrant domestic workers in the New York City area, as they transform their stories of survival into community theatre with queer Sri Lankan performer Yalini Dream.
The event, which they organized in collaboration with Raksha, Inc., featured Nahar Alam, a Bangladeshi immigrant feminist labor and community health organizer and founder of Andolan Organizing South Asian Workers.
