On March 16, 2012, the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (WHIAAPI) held its first Southeast Regional Action Summit. Hosted at Emory University, the summit brought together over 500 community leaders, federal agencies, and national AAPI organizations to discuss the challenges broadly faced by the AAPI community in the Southeast. More specifically, the summit aimed to raise awareness of and increase AAPI access to federal programs. To achieve this goal, it sought to connect AAPI leaders and stakeholders with regional organizations and policymakers, identify key policy concerns and potential solutions, and celebrate the successes of the AAPI community in the region.
