Helen Jin Kim, who completed her PhD at Harvard University in Spring 2017, arrived at Emory later that Fall to begin teaching at the Candler School of Theology. A specialist on US religious connections to Asia-Pacific and transnational histories of Asian American religions, Kim began teaching religious history and mentor a large number of Candler students interested in these topics.

In 2020, she was recognized with Eagle’s Wings Excellence in Teaching Award from the School of Theology and Provost’s Teaching Award for Excellence in Graduate and Professional Education.
