In 1988, the Office of Minority Student Programs (MSP) was reorganized and became separate from international and handicapped student programs. MSP, which came to focus on students of color, was renamed in 1990 to the Office of Multicultural Programs and Services (OMPS).
OMPS administered “programs and services aimed at the academic, social, and personal development of students of color at Emory” (Office of Multicultural Programs and Services records). This included helping students establish new cultural clubs and host social events to promote minority voices, celebrate diverse cultural and religious traditions, and increase representation on campus.
The Office of Multicultural Programs and Services records are available at the Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library.
